Hyundai of Tempe Veloster Earns 2012 Auto Style Award
December 5, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Hyundai Awards, Hyundai Veloster.
The all-new 2012 Veloster at Hyundai of Tempe is just as stylish as a BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Range Rover, according to the style experts eCityofStyle.com, which just announced its 12th annual Auto Style Awards.
The website just picked the Veloster as one of the five most stylish cars of 2012, right alongside the BMW 6 Series, Fiat 500, Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG and Range Rover Evoque. The finalists were chosen out of more than 300 new cars for 2012 based on judges’ assessments of exterior and interior style, fun-to-drive factor, exclusivity, and the all-important head-turning quotient.
“Gone are the days of Hyundai’s budget car status. Today, the Korean automaker is a legitimate threat to the establishment, designing cars that look considerably more expensive than they really are,” said eCityofStyle editors. “The Veloster is perhaps Hyundai’s most successful execution of its new design language, called Fluidic Sculpture. From the tight front end to the sculpted side creases to the powerful wheel arches, the Veloster’s exterior is both aggressive and sleek.”
Following the 2011 Equus’ style award win last year, Hyundai is grabbing consumer attention and media headlines again with Veloster. Veloster and the other winners were selected by fashion editors, stylists, fashion photographers and designers; all experts that live outside of the automotive world.
“With Veloster, we want to show consumers that high style and reasonable pricing can go hand in hand,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Veloster stands out from the crowd with a stylish yet functional design. We’re honored that eCityofStyle is recognizing the beautiful design and unique personality of the car.”
Veloster’s cutting edge integration of the third-door combined with a breakthrough design inspired by a high-performance sport bike allows Veloster to stand-out from its competition and makes a bold statement about Hyundai’s commitment to innovative design. Distinctive black A-pillars give the glass a motorcycle helmet visor appearance and in the front is an aggressive form of Hyundai’s signature hexagonal front grille and unique Hyundai-signature LED position lights. Veloster’s dynamic rear design has a distinctive glass hatch, dual centered chrome exhaust tips and black lower fascia that complement the assertive front fascia. Inside, the center stack and controls resemble a sport bike fuel tank and the air vents are inspired by motorcycle tailpipes, while the floor console mirrors the seat of a bike.

Hyundai of Tempe Report: 2012 Elantra Earns Residual Value Award
November 29, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Hyundai Awards, Hyundai Elantra.
Most car buyers consider sticker price to be the most important number when choosing a new vehicle, but there’s another important number to consider that isn’t found on a window sticker: the resale value.
A car’s resale value is an important factor to consider when considering a new car to buy since depreciation is typically a car buyer’s primary expense during ownership.
Just days after we announced that the 2012 Hyundai Tucson received a Best Resale Value Award from kbb.com, another Hyundai of Tempe – the 2012 Elantra – has been named the best compact car in terms of depreciation.
The 2012 Hyundai Elantra has just won a Residual Value Award from ALG for the second year in a row. Unlike kbb.com’s Best Resale Value Awards, which recognize which vehicles maintain the best value after five years of ownership, ALG’s Residual Value Awards recognize which new vehicles are predicted to retain the highest percentage of their original price after the first three years of ownership.
“The Elantra’s eye-catching sporty profile and upscale interior, combined with Hyundai’s increasing image of quality, earn the model its second consecutive win in the Compact Car segment,” said Raj Sundaram, ALG. “High demand and minimal incentives also help it nab the top spot.”
The 2012 Elantra sets the bar in the compact sedan category offering a “class-above” midsize car interior volume, modern design, outstanding fuel economy, and loads of comfort and convenience features, all at an attractive starting price. Elantra also delivers standard advanced safety technologies including a new Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system to optimally manage Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and the Motor-Driven electric Power Steering (MDPS).
“Hyundai’s Elantra stands out in the competitive compact segment, offering innovation, content, style, and 40 mpg highway standard fuel economy,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, Product and Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Strong residual value is an important element in Hyundai’s overall value equation, reducing the overall cost of ownership and allowing us to offer customers the Hyundai Assurance Trade-In Value Guarantee.”
The Trade-In Value Guarantee is the newest addition to the Hyundai Assurance suite of programs. It eliminates concern about depreciation by giving Hyundai owners a guaranteed value for their vehicle in months 24 through 48 of ownership.
Call Hyundai of Tempe or stop into our Tempe Hyundai dealership to find out more about Hyundai’s amazing Trade-In Value Guarantee and test drive a Hyundai Elantra today.

October 28, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Hyundai Awards, Hyundai Veloster.
The all-new 2012 Hyundai Veloster may have just debuted at our Tempe Hyundai dealership, but it’s already receiving numerous accolades for its stylish design and hip urban appeal.
The latest accolade bestowed on Hyundai’s newest three-door coupe is “Urban Car of the Year,” from Decisive magazine. The magazine’s annual “Urban Vehicles of the Year” awards are selected by a panel of independent automotive journalists who spend several months evaluating the most stylish, practical and attainable vehicles each year. After driving dozens of cars and trucks in a variety of North American urban settings, the panel selected the Hyundai Veloster as a standout performer in the 2012 class.
Hyundai of Tempe’s all-new 2012 Veloster delivers innovation to the compact coupe segment with standard features such as a unique third door for easy rear-seat access, Hyundai’s Blue Link telematics system, Pandora internet radio, seven-inch touch-screen display, and a new 1.6-liter Gasoline-Direct-Injected (GDI) four-cylinder engine and six-speed transmission. GDI technology helps deliver highway fuel economy of 40 mpg, lower emissions and higher reliability. With a low starting price below $18,000, the Hyundai Veloster adds great value to its compelling list attributes.
“Conceived to attract new, youthful drivers to the Hyundai brand, Veloster stands out from the crowd with a stylish yet functional design that combines the best characteristics of both a coupe and hatchback,” said Scott Margason, Hyundai’s U.S. director of product planning. “The unique personality of the car is attracting many different types of shoppers and we’re honored that the panel of experts with Decisive magazine felt it met the needs of urban drivers so well.”
Decisive magazine’s “Urban Vehicles of the Year” are featured in the magazine’s winter issue, which will be available online at www.decisivemagazine.com and on mobile applications.
“The Hyundai Veloster is a combination of a hip and edgy image, along with exceptional value to price and outstanding fuel economy that is perfectly suited for urban drivers,” said Decisive magazine Editor-in-Chief Lyndon Conrad Bell. “Hyundai’s choice to make its halo car an entry-level model excites us even more. With Veloster, Hyundai definitely proves that high style and reasonable pricing absolutely can go together.”

Hyundai of Tempe’s Genesis and Elantra Win 2011 Motorist Choice Awards
September 30, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Dealership News, Hyundai Awards, Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai Genesis.
For the second year in a row, two Hyundai of Tempe models have been honored with a 2011 Motorist Choice Award – the Hyundai Genesis for “Luxury Lifestyle” and the Elantra for “Value.”
The Motorist Choice Awards, by automotive research groups AutoPacific and IntelliChoice, recognize which vehicles deliver both the highest customer satisfaction and the lowest total cost of ownership. The results are based on survey data from 72,000 vehicle owners who rate their recently purchased 2011 vehicle using 48 key attributes covering the entire ownership experience.
“The Motorist Choice Award methodology is designed to help consumers identify vehicles that speak to their hearts and their wallets,” said Tyler Schulze, vice president and general manager of IntelliChoice. “The 2011 award winners all share a connection with buyers from both a satisfaction standpoint and overall value as compared to their peers. Based on this compelling combination, we are pleased to recommend these vehicles to consumers as a guide for good purchase decisions.”
This is the second year in a row that the Hyundai Genesis and Hyundai Elantra have taken home a Motorist Choice Award, demonstrating just how satisfied Genesis and Elantra owners are with their purchase.
“With power and technology features rivaling more expensive vehicles in the luxury segment, Genesis is a great option for car buyers seeking quality and reliability,” said Scott Margason, director Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Additionally, with class-above interior volume and excellent 40 mpg highway fuel economy, Elantra certainly brings outstanding value to the mid-size segment.”

Hyundai of Tempe Report: Elantra Touring Earns “2011 Best Cars for Families” Award
September 26, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Dealership News, Hyundai Awards, Hyundai Elantra Touring.
When it comes to buying a family car, it’s really very simple, according to the auto editors at U.S. News & World Report: “If you have the right family car, spending time in it is enjoyable for the whole family. The wrong family car can make time on the road uncomfortable, frustrating and expensive.”
With the U.S. News “2011 Best Cars for Families” list, you can decide which car will best fit your family’s needs based on reliability ratings, long-term ownership costs and which vehicles impress car reviewers the most with their family-friendly features and space, while also keeping families safe and on budget.
Taking top honors for “Best Wagon for Families” was the Hyundai Elantra Touring, which boasts tons of cargo space. According to U.S. News:
“Some families don’t need an SUV, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need a lot of cargo space. That’s where the Hyundai Elantra Touring steps in, with its 65.3 cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity, a figure that trumps the Honda Fit’s maximum cargo space by 8 cubic feet. Of course, you’ll only get that figure if you fold down the rear seat, but even with three kids in tow, you’ll have 24.3 cubic feet to spare.”
In addition to naming the Hyundai Elantra Touring the “Best Wagon for Families,” U.S. News also named it the “Best Car for the Money.”
The Elantra Touring isn’t the only family-friendly car at Hyundai of Tempe. The Hyundai Sonata and Elantra were both named “2011 Best Cars for Teens” by Consumer Reports, while the Hyundai Accent was voted one of kbb.com’s “2011 Top Back-to-School Cars.”
You can check out all these best cars for families at Hyundai of Tempe’s Phoenix Hyundai dealership.

August 9, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Awards.

For those parents looking to buy a new or used car in Tempe, Arizona for their high school or college student, Hyundai of Tempe has the perfect car for you – the 2012 Hyundai Accent, which just topped Kelley Blue Book’s 2011 Top 10 Back-to-School Cars list as the #1 new car to buy.
Vehicles on kbb.com’s 2011 Top 10 Back-to-School Cars list were chosen with the following criteria in mind: safety, affordability, versatility, reliability, cost of ownership and fuel efficiency, along with the ever-subjective ‘fun-to-drive’ and ‘good-looking’ factors. Each new car on the list is available for $18,000 or less, using Kelley Blue Book’s exclusive Fair Purchase Price as the yardstick.
The 2012 Accent joins the Hyundai Sonata and Elantra, which were just named the 2011 Best Cars for Teens by Consumer Reports.
“Like its bigger brothers the Sonata and Elantra, the 2012 Hyundai Accent appeals to a finely-tuned sense of value, putting a lot of equipment into a stylish, roomy package that competes more than favorably with competitors like the Ford Fiesta, Mazda Mazda2 and Honda Fit,” says the editors at kbb.com. “While not pavement-ripping, the 138-horsepower engine will deliver 30 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the open road. And at a price that’s a bargain, the 2012 Accent demands to be on your back-to-school shopping list.”
Since it arrived at Hyundai of Tempe earlier this summer, the all-new 2012 Accent has been turning heads with its distinctive and upscale “Fluidic Sculpture” design, best-in-class standard fuel economy, exceptional roominess and full complement of standard safety features. Hyundai Sonata & Elantra Named Best Cars for Teens by Consumer Reports
July 29, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Dealership News, Hyundai Awards, Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.
Looking to buy a new or used car in Arizona for your teenage driver? According to Consumer Reports, the Hyundai Sonata and Elantra SE are the best cars for teens in terms of safety, reliability, cost and fuel-efficiency.
Consumer Reports’ 2011 Best Cars for Teens
Handing the keys over to your teenager is one of the scariest times in a parent’s life. The CDC reports that car crashes are the number-one killer of teens, with teen drivers being four times more likely to crash than adults. That’s why putting your new, inexperienced driver behind the wheel of the safest, most reliable car you can afford is of the utmost importance.
Luckily for parents, Consumer Reports helps take the guess-work out of buying a car for your teen by creating a list of the best relatively new, relatively cheap options to keep your kids safe behind the wheel.
First off, Consumer Reports advises parents to stay away from trucks and large SUVs for new drivers, as they tend to have clumsy handling, poor fuel economy, and their high centers of gravity make them more likely to roll over. They also suggest staying away from sports cars and other fast cars for obvious reasons, including that their insurance rates are much higher, and cars that old more than five passengers – your teen has enough to concentrate on without a bunch of rowdy passengers distracting them.
So what does that leave? Consumer Reports suggests parents look to small cars and family sedans, which tend to offer a good balance of controllability, safety and visibility. You should get as many modern safety systems as your budget allows, including anti-lock brakes, curtain airbags, stability and traction control, and good crash test scores. You should also look for a car that has sufficient acceleration to merge onto busy highways, good brakes, and efficient handling.
Based on these criteria, Consumer Reports chose the following models, which not only scored well in their testing but also come available with the recommended safety equipment.
2011 Best Cars for Teens:
* Hyundai Sonata (2006 or later)
* Hyundai Elantra SE (2008 or later)
* Acura TSX (2004 or later)
* Ford Focus sedan (2009 or later)
* Mazda3 Touring (2007 or later)
* Scion xB (2008 or later)
* Volkswagen Jetta (2007 or later)
* Volkswagen Rabbit (2007 or later)
Hyundai Sonata & Elantra at Hyundai of Tempe
The Hyundai Sonata and Elantra are some of the top-selling models at Hyundai of Tempe, thanks to their class-leading fuel economy (2011 Elantra packs a whopping 40 mpg) and numerous awards for safety and value.
In addition to earning the TOP SAFETY PICK from IIHS, the 2011 Hyundai Elantra was named one of the “Top 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000” by kbb.com, has been named one of the best fuel-efficient cars from Cars.com, and won first place in Motor Trend’s comparison of the best-selling compact sedans.
Not to be outdone, the 2011 Sonata has been named a “BEST BET” by TrueCar.com, and a “best car for families” by both Kiplinger’s and Parents Magazine/Edmuns.com. The 35-mpg Sonata also comes in a new hybrid version that outshines all other competitors. The 40-mpg Sonata Hybrid is one of only two hybrids on the market that have received both a TOP SAFETY PICK designation from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating.

Hyundai of Tempe Elantra Wins First Place in Motor Trend Comparison
July 28, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Hyundai Awards, Hyundai Elantra.
With so many all-new models currently on sale from just about every automaker, it can be hard for car buyers to distinguish which compact car is truly the best. Luckily for you, a recent Motor Trend comparison test does the dirty work for you by comparing the top eight compact cars currently on the market — including five models that were completely redesigned within the past year.
The results? The 2011 Hyundai Elantra is the “best of the best,” beating out the Chevrolet Cruze, Ford Focus, VW Jetta, Honda Civic, Kia Forte, Toyota Corolla and Mazda3.
Motor Trend’s Best-Selling Compact Sedan Comparison
With compact car sales reaching 1.7 million this year, Motor Trend wanted to know: Just what does it take to appeal to the masses in America?
Motor Trend picked the top best-selling models in each of the eight automakers’ compact car segments and pitted them against each other in terms of value, efficiency, ride comfort, and styling.
Not surprisingly, the 2011 Hyundai Elantra crushed the competition. According to Motor Trend, the Elantra “offers the most compelling compromise of styling, packaging, value, efficiency, and comfort, and demonstrates that you don’t have to sell your soul to have mass appeal.”
Other comments included:
“The Elantra’s ride is easily the most comfortable of the bunch: smooth, quiet, and well-controlled.”
“Better inside than some Lexuses.”
“Closest to the ideal of what a modern compact needs to be if Americans are really going to downsize their sedans.”
“Compared with every other car here, the Elantra feels grown-up and sophisticated.”
“Wow, Hyundai’s done a great job here. The Elantra’s styling is a welcome addition to the copy/paste mindset.”
Perhaps the biggest plus of the 2011 Elantra, however, is its impressive, class-leading fuel economy. Don’t forget – the Elantra is the only compact car in the group capable of achieving 40 mpg on the highway in all model configurations, regardless of whether it’s equipped with a manual or automatic transmission.
But don’t take our word (or Motor Trend’s word) on it. Stop by Hyundai of Tempe to test drive the award-winning, fuel-efficient 2011 Hyundai Elantra. You won’t be disappointed.
