Two Hyundai of Tempe Models Named 2011 “BEST BETS” from The Car Book
July 21, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Hyundai Awards, Hyundai Genesis, Hyundai Sonata.
Hyundai of Tempe has just learned that two Hyundai models, the 2011 Genesis and 2011 Sonata, have earned the distinction of “BEST BETS” from The Car Book and the Center for Auto Safety, the nation’s leading auto safety advocacy group. This is the third year in a row the Genesis has earned a BEST BETS distinction.
“We appreciate the fact that Hyundai has made a significant contribution to improving the market choices for the American car buyer,” said Jack Gillis, author of The Car Book. “During these most challenging times for the auto industry, the fact that Hyundai vehicles have the quality and features most important to today’s car buyer is a testament to their desire to meet customer needs.”
2011 BEST BETS Awards
For over three decades, The Car Book has selected vehicles for the “BEST BETS” honor, based on how well they respond to the safety and performance needs of today’s consumer. The Car Book analyzes new vehicles each year to identify those making a significant contribution to improving the market. “BEST BETS” vehicles are rated in nine key Car Book categories: crash tests, safety features, rollover, preventative maintenance, repair costs, warranty, fuel economy, complaints, and insurance, with the heaviest emphasis on safety.
“Having two Hyundai models named as ‘BEST BETS’ by The Car Book demonstrates our continued commitment to excellence in quality, value and design for all of the vehicles in the Hyundai lineup,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “The Genesis and Sonata are prime examples of models that not only meet but exceed customer expectations in safety and performance.”
BEST BETS: 2011 Sonata and Genesis
Hyundai’s all-new 2011 Sonata represents a modern approach to the traditional midsize sedan segment by using only advanced four-cylinder engines, emotional design and luxury features offered with Hyundai’s strong value proposition. The Sonata launched with a new Theta II 2.4-liter gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine and in-house six-speed automatic transmission and also offers both hybrid and turbo powertrain options.
Hyundai’s 2009 North American Car of the Year-winning Genesis sedan sets a new benchmark in the premium car category. Fuel Efficient Hyundai Elantra Wins Cars.com “Best Value: Price to Pump Award”
June 23, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Hyundai Awards, Hyundai Elantra.

Hyundai of Tempe’s all-new 2011 Elantra continues to rake in the awards as one of the best fuel-efficient cars on the road, making it the perfect vehicle for consumers looking for an affordable solution to rising gas prices. Adding to its award pile is Car.com’s “Best Value: Price to Pump Award” as part of its Under 20/Over 35 Shootout. In the shootout, Cars.com editors evaluated five compact cars that seat five, get better than 30 miles per gallon and have a price tag below $20,000.
Cars.com Editor in Chief Patrick Olsen wrote:
“With unrelenting gas prices and continued economic uncertainty, our shootout couldn’t be timelier in terms of what car shoppers are looking for. In fact, four of the five models that competed have been among dealers best sellers in April and May.
“Based on our results, every car shopper looking in this segment needs to put the 2011 Hyundai Elantra at the top of their consideration set. Not only does this car get 40 mpg on the highway, the Elantra also has refined styling, solid handling, a comfortable interior and incredible affordability for all the features that buyers will get.”
To determine the winner of the best fuel-efficient car shootout, experts from Cars.com, USA Today and a Chicago-area family put the contenders through a variety of tests over a series of three days. Tests included a day-long drive to determine accurate, real-world mileage, back-to-back driving by all judges on the same course to determine handling and comfort, and a side-by-side comparison of the cars’ features and styling.
The 2011 Elantra sets the bar in the compact sedan category offering a “class-above” midsize car interior volume, modern design, outstanding fuel economy, and loads of comfort and convenience features, all at an attractive starting price. The Hyundai Elantra also continues to lead the industry in standard advanced safety technologies including a new Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system to optimally manage Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and the Motor-Driven electric Power Steering (MDPS).

Safe and Fuel Efficient 2011 Hyundai Elantra Earns IIHS “TOP SAFETY PICK”
May 27, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Hyundai Awards, Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai Safety.

The 40-mpg 2011 Hyundai Elantra has just been awarded a “TOP SAFETY PICK” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), achieving the highest rating of “Good” in all crash test categories including front, side, rollover and rear crash protection. The award demonstrates that vehicles don’t have to compromise fuel efficiency for safety.
The IIHS award recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting vehicle occupants involved in front, side and rear crashes, plus rollover performance based on ratings in the Institute’s tests. All TOP SAFETY PICK vehicles must also include a standard electronic stability control system.
“Elantra safety has improved tremendously over the years with the vehicle now earning IIHS’ top safety distinction,” said David Zuby, the IIHS’ chief research officer. “The big things the automakers have done to improve crashworthiness are designing better front crush zones to manage crash energy, stronger occupant compartments to limit intrusion, and stronger roofs to better protect people in rollovers.”
The 2011 Elantra takes compact car safety to the next level with the introduction of Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), which optimally manages ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and the Motor-Driven electric Power Steering (MDPS). Elantra features six airbags — including dual front, front seat-mounted side-impact, and front and rear side curtain airbag.
The 2011 Elantra also features a state-of-the-art braking package that includes four-wheel disc brakes and an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist, which provides maximum braking force when a panic stop is detected, and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), to automatically adjust the braking force to front and rear axles based on vehicle loading conditions.
“Hyundai is committed to applying the most effective life-saving vehicle technologies and the all-new Elantra is no exception,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, Product and Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “The 40 mpg highway 2011 Elantra is proving that compact cars can be fuel efficient while offering tremendous safety.”

Hyundai is Top Automaker for Brand Loyalty
May 12, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Hyundai Awards.

Once you drive a Hyundai, it’s hard to go back.
For the second year in a row, Hyundai has been named the #1 automaker on Brand Key’s Customer Loyalty Engagement Index, an annual measure of customer engagement compiled by the country’s premiere customer-relationship consulting firm.
The top companies in each category of the Customer Loyalty Engagement Index not only define how the consumer will view the category, compare offerings and, ultimately, buy, but also identify the expectations the consumers holds for each company. In other words, these customer loyalty leaders excel at meeting their customers’ expectations and set the bar for every other company to aspire to.
Hyundai drivers have become increasingly loyal to the Hyundai brand over the past several years, thanks in large part to Hyundai’s significant increase in product quality, success of its new higher-end models, and America’s best warranty, Hyundai Assurance.
Hyundai Assurance provides a comprehensive range of warranty coverage for all new Hyundai vehicles, including:
▪ 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain protection
▪ 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty
▪ 7-year/unlimited-mileage anti-perforation warranty
▪ 5-year/unlimited-mileage 24-hour roadside assistance
▪ 8-year/80,000-mile federal emission defect & performance warranty
▪ 7-year/70,000-mile California emission control systems warranty
▪ 12-month/12,000-mile replacement parts and accessories limited warranty
“Of course, the true test of loyalty and engagement always shows up in the marketplace, so we weren’t surprised to see their sales are up again over last year,” said Robert Passikoff, Brand Keys founder and president.
Hyundai Motor America reported its best April ever this year and its second-best all-time month in history. Hyundai’s 2011 April sales were up 40 percent over 2010’s record-breaking April. For the year, total sales are up 31 percent, with retail volume rising 40 percent.
Hyundai Motor America’s Executive Vice President, Dave Zuchowski, attributes the record sales to Hyundai’s commitment to saving customers money throughout the lifetime of their vehicle purchase.
“Our unwavering commitment as the industry leader in fuel efficiency with four vehicles achieving 40 MPG standard this year has helped overcome escalating fuel prices and drive our continued growth” he says. “Further, we believe our innovative Assurance Trade-In Value Guarantee program will take the uncertainty out of future resale values and bolster consumer confidence in our brand.”
That’s not all, says Tara Reedy, national manager, Dealer Marketing and Resource Management, Hyundai Motor America: “With our strong new lineup filled with stylish, fuel efficient and affordable vehicles, both new and returning customers are keeping Hyundai at the top of their shopping lists.”

2011 Sonata Named “2011 Best Car for Families” by Kiplinger’s
May 4, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Hyundai Awards, Hyundai Models.

Once again the Hyundai Sonata has been named a top family car, this time by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine.
Already this year the 2011 Sonata has been awarded the “Family Vehicle of the Year” by the Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA) and one of the “Top 10 Family Cars” by kbb.com.
The family-friendly Sonata joined Kiplinger’s list as one of the “2011 Best Cars for Families.” According to Kiplinger’s Associate Editor Jessica Anderson:
“Hyundai’s Sonata beat out the midsize sedan competition to earn Kiplinger’s Best New Car award this year for an innovative redesign that’s parent and kid-friendly. The turbocharged Sonata SE 2.0T has the most horsepower in the segment and nimble handling for Mom or Dad. The back seat fits two child car seats easily, plus it has decent legroom and cup holders in the rear armrest.”
The 2011 Hyundai Sonata joined eight other vehicles on Kiplinger’s list. Each of the vehicles has a sticker price below $35,000 and respectable fuel economy (the Sonata comes in at 35 mpg standard highway). All were required to do well in Kiplinger’s road tests, have plenty of cargo space (for strollers and other gear) and have received positive reviews from parents. All vehicles also received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick designation, meaning they earned the top rating not only for front, side and rear crash tests but also for roof-strength rollover tests, and have standard stability control. Traction control and six airbags are also standard on each.
“The 2011 Sonata is a smart buy for families looking for class-leading comfort, an EPA designated large volume interior and advanced standard safety technologies,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Couple that with a four-cylinder engine lineup producing impressive fuel economy with the power of a V6, and the Sonata is the perfect midsize sedan choice for parents and their kids.”
If you’re looking for a safe, fuel-efficient and family-friendly car, the 2011 Sonata is your best bet. At Hyundai of Tempe, we offer a huge lineup of new and used Sonata models, including the 40-mpg 2011 Sonata Hybrid and 2011 Elantra, which was recently named one of the Top 10 Most Fuel-Efficient Cars by TrueCar.com.

2011 Hyundai Elantra Named One of Top 10 Most Fuel-Efficient Cars
April 19, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Hyundai Awards, Hyundai Models.

Hyundai is proving you don’t need a hybrid to be one of the most fuel-efficient cars on the road.
The all-new 2011 Hyundai Elantra has just been named one of the Top 10 Most Fuel-Efficient Cars by TrueCar.com, the authority on new car pricing, trends and forecasting. The Elantra is the only non-hybrid to make the list.
TrueCar.com compiles its Top 10 fuel-efficient cars list based on fuel economy and cost of gas per 15,000 miles driven annually. According to their research, even though the Toyota Prius is the most fuel-efficient vehicle on the list, it is beat out by the Hyundai Elantra in terms of total annual costs.
For example, the 2011 Toyota Prius base average price is $22,235 and costs $1,064 annually to fuel up. (Based on the current price of $3.52 per gallon of unleaded fuel and 15,000 miles driven annually.) The 2011 Hyundai Elantra costs $531 more to fill up annually, but is 32 percent cheaper than the Prius at a base $15,052. At that rate, it would take more than 13 years to recoup the additional investment in the Prius.
“When purchasing a fuel-efficient vehicle, consumers should consider two factors – price and annual cost of fuel,” said Jesse Toprak, vice president of Industry Trends and Insights at TrueCar.com. “If you’re looking for the most cost-effective and fuel-efficient car, the Hyundai Elantra is the clear winner.”
The 2011 Elantra sets the bar in the compact sedan category offering a “class-above” midsize car interior volume, modern design, outstanding fuel economy, and loads of comfort and convenience features – all at an attractive starting price. Elantra also continues to lead the industry in standard advanced safety technologies including a new Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system to optimally manage Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and the Motor-Driven electric Power Steering (MDPS).
“The all-new Elantra, with its 29 mpg city and 40 mpg highway standard fuel economy rating, is a perfect vehicle for consumers looking for an affordable solution to rising gas prices,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, Product and Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor America.
If gas prices have you cringing at the pump, consider the 2011 Elantra. Hyundai of Tempe has the largest selection of new and used Hyundai models in Arizona.

2011 Elantra Limited Earns Ward’s 10 Best Interiors Award
April 13, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Hyundai Awards, Hyundai Models.

Who says a fuel-efficient compact car can’t be fashionable?
The all-new 2011 Hyundai Elantra Limited has just been named to Ward’s 10 Best Interiors list – right alongside the luxury brands BMW, Volvo and Audi.
“Being named to Ward’s 10 Best Interiors, alongside vehicles like the Audi A8 and BMW X3 xDrive35i, shows that compact cars can provide an engaging experience as well,” said Chris Zarlenga, design manger, Hyundai America Technical Center.
Ward’s editors agreed, saying:
“More evidence that economy cars ‘ain’t what they used to be,’ the Hyundai Elantra Limited delivers enough flair to suggest the South Korean auto maker is finding its own unique interior design language.
“The instrument panel of this $22,110 5-passenger sedan displays a curvaceous sensuality, with a belt drawn tightly around the climate controls; the center console then widens as it flows down to the gear shifter.”
Being named to Ward’s 10 Best Interiors list further demonstrates that a car achieving 40 mpg standard highway fuel economy is not only practicable, but fashionable as well. The 2011 Elantra represents a modern approach to the traditional compact sedan segment, featuring a sleek style, advanced safety features, and class-leading interior room. Inside the Elantra, customers will find expert interior packaging, lighting, leading-edge design and craftsmanship. This approach is visible in the clarity of the instruments, the telescopic steering wheel, and the heated seats available in the front and rear – a segment first. The unique seats also help fuel economy and the environment because they are made of lightweight, environmentally friendly foam.
Come see the 2011 Elantra’s award-winning interior first-hand at Hyundai of Tempe. We have a wide range of Elantra body styles to choose from, including the 2011 Elantra Limited.
