Maintenance Tips for Cold Weather
February 4, 2011 by HyundaiDifference, under Dealership News, Hyundai Service, Uncategorized.

Although Arizona doesn’t encounter cold weather very often, residents are known to venture north to the snow. Do you have a cold-weather car maintenance routine? Antifreeze, oil and batteries are common culprits when it comes to cold-related car issues. Learn the important items to check when entering cold weather.
Be prepared before freezing weather hits. Here are a few items to pay attention to when the mercury starts to drop:
Cooling System Checklist
Antifreeze can be one of the trickiest parts of your winterizing routine because, even though it has a strong green color, the additives could be worn out. This can cause the inside of your radiator to rust. Adding water when the level is down will cause your antifreeze mixture to lose its ability to withstand freezing temperatures.
Your antifreeze should be replaced every two years. If you’re not sure when your antifreeze was last changed, you can easily check its endurance and freeze point with an antifreeze tester (they cost less than five dollars at any auto parts store). But if you’re not a do-it-yourselfer, be sure to have it checked by Hyundai of Tempe’s Service Department. They have more accurate and reliable testers.

What makes Anti-lock brakes more effective than conventional brakes?
December 20, 2010 by HyundaiDifference, under Dealership News, Hyundai Service, Uncategorized.

2011 Hyundai Equus
Anti-lock brakes come standard on every new Hyundai. But how do they work? What makes them more effective than regular braking systems? Read the following interesting article to find out more about anti-lock brakes…
The ABS System
The theory behind anti-lock brakes is simple. A skidding wheel (where the tire contact patch is sliding relative to the road) has less traction than a non-skidding wheel. If you have been stuck on ice, you know that if your wheels are spinning you have no traction. This is because the contact patch is sliding relative to the ice. By keeping the wheels from skidding while you slow down, anti-lock brakes benefit you in two ways: You’ll stop faster, and you’ll be able to steer while you stop.

Why winter tires are important, even in the desert!
December 8, 2010 by HyundaiDifference, under Dealership News, Hyundai Service, Uncategorized.
Although snow is unexpected and rare here in the Valley of the Sun, outfitting your vehicle with winter tires is still highly recommended for safe travel during the colder months of the year. While our roads remain snow and ice-free (most of the time), once the thermometer reads below 45 degrees, the rubber that all-weather tires are made with lose their effectiveness and can lead to driving hazards such as increased stopping distances, reduced road grip and poor cornering.
